A quiet December, January easy going

Just a few short trips!

sunny

The first 10 days of December was spent in Saudi Arabia and Qatar and described in the previous blog entry. I had plenty of SPE projects writing articles, nominating committees, schedule planning and making assignments. A week long trip scheduled for mid-December got postponed. I was happy for that as it allowed me to spend some time with my grandsons. We built a few gingerbread houses, I barbecued and smoked a turkey. The daughter from Norway, her drilling engineer husband and four sons visited twice. The daughter from Austin came along with my physics major son and my youngest daughter---made for a nice Christmas celebration. Football and Star Wars rounded it out along with a couple operas.

Nice to see Stanford win big in the Rose Bowl.

Datuk Mohd. Anuar, a senior Petronas executive and I conducted a "Virtual Town Hall" meeting. It was in the morning in Asia so from 8:30 to 10 pm here in Houston. The technology went well and we had 2,000 people listening and viewing at more than a dozen locations.

Drove to SPE Headquarters in Richardson, TX to address the SPE staff and participate in the Finance & Strategy Committee meeting and the Board Nominating meeting. We selected the new SPE Board members and 2018 SPE President from an impressive slate of nominees. After Board approval in March these will be published in the April JPT.

I made a presentation in Houston at a very well attended Reservoir Study Group.

I flew to Los Angeles to participate in a KIN Catalyst sponsored meeting. The subject was climate change.

I am a long-time member of the World Oil Advisory Board and participated in their annual oil forecast.
